Last Patrol volunteers honored James Phillips, an Air Force veteran, in hospice care.
Born in 1938, James enlisted in the Air Force on July 31, 1956, serving in the Weather Service in Munich, Germany. Two of his brothers also served. He inherited a car while in Germany and he and his friends frequently went into Munich on the weekends. Before his departure, he generously gifted the vehicle to a fellow military member. James was honorably discharged in 1960. He considered extending for an additional three years in Spain, but ultimately chose to return home to his sweetheart, Carole. Upon his return, having known each other since childhood, they married.
They had a son and a daughter, and they are proud grandparents to six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Notably, his son also followed in his footsteps by serving in the Air Force.
James pursued a career as a High School Teacher and Coach. He found joy in various activities, including being a Charter Coach Driver for tours, teaching Sunday school, motorcycle traveling, German cuisine, and engaging in farming.
Today, James is in hospice care with Agape Care Group
