Last Patrol volunteers honored the service of Dick, an Army National Guard veteran.

The celebration took place on his 93rd Birthday. During our Honor Ceremony presentation, where Dick received a number of patriotic gifts, he was flanked by two of his grandchildren.

Dick was born in Hampton, SC, in March 1933, as the youngest of six siblings. After losing his father at a very young age, he quickly understood the importance of hard work and the significance of family.

After completing high school, Dick enlisted in the Army National Guard from 1952 to 1960, he served in the 263rd Tank Division. becoming a Tank Commander. During his service, he earned Marksman status with a .45 caliber pistol. He ultimately achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. Dick's dedication to his military service reflected his patriotism and instilled in him valuable lessons in respect and responsibility.

Dick married the love of his life, Gladys. Sadly, she passed away in November 2024, after a remarkable 70 years of marriage! Together, they raised three children and were blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dick dedicated a significant portion of his career to farming or related fields. Later Dick and his wife moved to Beaufort, SC, to assist his mother and brother with their store before settling at in a home built by Dick and his brother-in-law.

Dick enjoys being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Dick is a great example of what it means to live with honor and purpose and continues to inspire everyone who knows him.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Dick for his dedicated service to our country.
