Last Patrol volunteers honored Fred G. Graham, a Marine veteran in hospice care. Fred was presented several patriotic gifts.
Fred was born in 1933 in Conway, SC. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in June 1953 and completed Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Following boot camp, he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. He underwent Cold Weather Training in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Subsequently his home base was in Kylon, Formosa, and he also served in Okinawa, Guam, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Notably, while in the Philippines, he participated in an inauguration day parade for President Marcos.
Fred is a Presbyterian but attended the Episcopal Church with his late wife, Burney. He has 3 children and is a former accountant and an author, having written books about his life and his wife. An avid cyclist maintained a routine of riding 65 miles a week until the age of 89.
He is a passionate supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Together with Burney, he competed in Shag dance competitions, earning several awards. His favorite travel destination is Alaska.
