"I loved being a Soldier!"

Last Patrol volunteers rallied to honor Don Whitley, an Army veteran in hospice care.

Our honor ceremony celebrated Don and his family. We presented several gifts, including a Patriot's Quilt, a Congressional Letter from REP. William Timmons and one of our Cards of Gratitude packets.

Don was born in January 1938 in Winston-Salem, NC. He served as an Army Engineer Officer from October 11, 1960, to July 31, 1981. He served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Throughout his service, Don received numerous commendations, including 2 bronze stars. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

After completing his military service, Don spent 20 years as an Engineer at Kohler Co. before retiring a 2nd time. He is happily married and is the proud father of four daughters and one son. In his leisure time, Don enjoys yard work, gardening, and immersing himself in nature. He is also an avid sports enthusiast, particularly fond of football and tennis, and took great pleasure in coaching his children's sports.

We salute you, Sir, as you proceed on your Last Patrol.
