Last Patrol volunteers honored the military service of Robert Babb, a National Guard veteran in hospice care.
Robert was born in Fountain Inn, SC, and at an early age, his family relocated to Spartanburg, SC. He aspired to join the Air Force, however, he was unable to enlist due to medical complications. He then decided to join the South Carolina National Guard and did regular duty at FT Jackson & FT Sill, serving for twelve years in Artillery and Engineering units.
Robert graduated from Spartanburg High School, then Spartanburg Methodist College & Wofford College. He worked as a photographer for the Spartanburg Newspaper for one year. It was there he met his lovely wife. He then became an Insurance Investigator for forty years for the company that eventually became Equifax.
Robert had natural talent at ping pong, tennis, golf, and bowling, and won several championships. He played golf until very recently. He had five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is in hospice care with PruittHealth We wish him well as he proceeds on his Last Patrol.
