Last Patrol volunteers in Georgia honored the service of John Stevens, a Navy veteran, in hospice care.
Our team presented patriotic gifts during the Honor Ceremony. John is in the care of Family Hospice. He was born in 1933 on Tybee Island, GA. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), which would later be rebranded as the Navy SEALs. He's a Korean War veteran and received numerous high commendations, including the Navy Cross, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart.
John, proud of his service, retains an expression of stern commitment with love of country.
After military service, John pursued a career as a mechanical engineer. He first married Opal, with whom he had a son, but their marriage ended in the 1970s. He subsequently married Nannette and relocated to Petal, Mississippi, where they remained together until her passing in 2003.
John's hobbies were bowling, golfing, and collecting guns and knives.
We salute you, Sir, as you proceed on your Last Patrol.
