"Thank you for your service, sir!"

Last Patrol volunteers honored the military service of Donald R. Reckers, a Vietnam Marine veteran in home hospice care. 

Donald was born in Covington, Kentucky. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 17, 1961, serving four years on active duty and an additional two years in a non-active capacity as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Artillery. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 16, 1967. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

Donald met his wife, Vivian, a refugee, during his time in service. They have been happily married for 25 years. Together they have 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
